"Of Distance and Time is a portrait photography exhibition, celebrating the wisdom, strength, and experiences of Hmong elder women through portraiture.

The goal of our portrait project is to create empowering, legacy images of the elder women of the Hmong community. We aspire to celebrate their lives and preserve their recollections of their journey as refugees and their experiences in Minnesota.

We have also provided a safe space for the elders to tell their historical family stories. Our intention is to preserve these seldom heard experiences for the benefit of families and students in the local Hmong community, as well as for all Minnesotans—and beyond.
