Brisk winds, shorter days, and football playing in the background all contribute to that unique lure of fall inviting us to spend more time in the warmth of the kitchen. Warm hearty soups, casseroles, and skillets provide nourishment to our bodies and souls. Our kitchens are vital partners in our health journey. Kitchen cabinets become medicinal pantries when stocked with nutrient-rich foods like produce, whole grains, and warming spices.
Kitchens are also creative sacred spaces that allow us to practice mindfulness and gratitude as we prepare the meals that will care for ourselves, families, and communities. Our kitchens are workshops for our Benedictine value of wise stewardship.
The recipes provided by CARE are balanced to show how we can use favorite foods purposefully and in moderation. How food can be a true extension of love when it heals and nurtures. Each CARE recipe is also developed to be whole-foods based, balanced in macronutrients, and produce-rich. The focus in CARE is always on what to add vs. restrict.
